Research Projects
The Geneva School of Diplomacy undertakes research projects that address contemporary challenges in international relations and governance. Our projects range from short-term policy analyses to multi-year funded research programmes conducted in partnership with other institutions and organisations.
Current Projects
Our active research portfolio includes projects examining the reform of multilateral institutions, the impact of digital technologies on diplomatic practice, climate governance mechanisms, and the role of non-state actors in international negotiations. Each project is led by GSD faculty with support from doctoral candidates and research assistants.
International Collaborations
Located in Geneva — a global hub for international organisations — GSD maintains research partnerships with entities including UN agencies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and academic institutions across Europe, North America, and the Global South. These collaborations produce joint publications, shared datasets, and co-hosted events.
Funded Research
GSD researchers actively seek external funding from national research councils, European framework programmes, and philanthropic foundations. The Research Office provides guidance on grant applications, budget planning, and compliance with funder requirements.
Details of individual projects, including team composition and outputs, will be available once the project database is fully populated.
